Chromeo debut “Clorox Wipe” video, raise $50,000 for Know Your Rights Camp

Chromeo debut their surreal video for “Clorox Wipe,” directed by Patrick Jean, today:

The track is taken from their Quarantine Casanova EP, five tracks written and recorded under lockdown and released earlier this year. 100% of net proceeds from EP digital downloads, physical sales and merch have been donated, with $20,000 to Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp COVID-19 Relief Fund plus an additional $30,000 match donation from Clorox. Clorox also pledged an additional $25,000 donation totaling $75,000 in COVID-19 Relief Fund donations from Chromeo and Clorox. The video transforms Chromeo into paper-thin figures—as thin as wipes—meandering through L.A. and Vegas’ empty streets, eventually dancing atop a flat Earth. “It’s sort of an allegory for everything that’s been flattened since the beginning of the pandemic,” says Dave 1. “Human interactions, our sense of time, our experience of space. As we’re confined to our screens, it’s all become two dimensional.”“Right now, between the COVID uptick and the election, everyone’s an anxious mess,” adds P-Thugg. “As artists with a platform, it was our duty to raise awareness around the communities most affected by the virus. As purveyors of funky music, it’s also our duty to provide some levity, to lift people’s spirits. We hope this video can achieve that.”
