Critically acclaimed North Carolina 6-piece Delta Rae has today released their sophomore record, After It All, via Sire/Warner Bros. Records. The album features such standouts as haunting new single “Scared,” “Cold Day In Heaven,” loved by Elmore Magazine for the “male-female vocal harmonies, folk-pop textures and plenty of dramatic grandeur,” as well as “Chasing Twisters,” which the band will perform on NBC’sLate Night with Seth Meyers tomorrow. As Blogcritics states, “The sextet’s opulent, theatrical, soulful country-pop feels classic and fresh at the same time… [it is] an album of soaring melodies and a deep-hearted, determined, and joyful feel.”

Since their sensational 2012 debut Carry the Fire, Delta Rae has been traveling constantly, bringing their incredible live performance to sold-out crowds around the globe. They’re returning to the road this week, kicking off their headline tour April 9 in Philadelphia, and continuing across the country for the next few months first alongside opener Greg Holden, and then Liz Longley. A list of confirmed dates is below, and tickets for all headline dates are on sale now.
Through their travels, the band has gradually landed on the themes to create this new album, produced by Peter Katis (Interpol, The National), Rob Cavallo (Fleetwood Mac, Green Day), and Julian Raymond (2015 GRAMMY Award for Best Country Song). “Our goals for the record were to make something cinematic, romantic and American,” band member Eric Holljes says. The record began as a concept album, a story of young lovers who fall on hard times during the recent recession, but throughout the process it became clear that Delta Rae’s music had to tell stories as the band was personally experiencing them.
“We kept coming back to ourselves as we were writing,” says vocalist Brittany Holljes. “These songs were integral to our own stories in our own lives. It had to be an honest reflection of what we were feeling instead of being projected onto characters we created.”
While the album has the same “unique blend of blue-eyed soul and Americana rock” thatRolling Stone loved on the first record, the band pushed themselves to create something even bigger for After It All. “We stretched ourselves immensely for this record,” Brittany says. “You can feel everyone’s heart in every moment. You can sense that all the pieces of the puzzle are important for the picture the album paints.”
