ARTIST NEWS: Burns & Poe, named Music Row magazine’s 2010 Independent Artist of the Year, signed on for management with Ontourage Management Group (OMG). OMG will exclusively manage the pair’s day-to-day activity as well as spearhead potential sponsorships, special appearances and future recording plans. Keith Burns and Michelle Poe made their entry in the country music scene official as a classic country pairing in 2009. Their latest single, entitled “Second Chance,” is currently at radio with video airplay on CMT.com and YouTube. The cut is their third release from the pair’s double-disc, self-titled debut album. BENEFIT NEWS: BAMA RISING: A Benefit Concert for Alabama Tornado Recovery, presented by Verizon, hosted by Alabama, entertained a sold-out crowd last month. The nearly six-hour concert event raised over $2.1 million, which will be used for tornado recovery through the Bama Rising Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. The benefit pulled together an all-star cast of 19 top entertainers. From the opening set by concert hosts and organizers, Alabama including the Holy Trinity Children’s Choir and the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, the crowd was treated to outstanding performances. Some artists who pitched in include Rodney Atkins, Dierks Bentley, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, Sara Evans, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Montgomery Gentry, David Nail, Jake Owen, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Ashton Shepherd and The Commodores, and the concert ended with an all-sing finale that had the sold-out room singing along to every note.

BUSINESS BUZZ: OTTO Printing & Entertainment Graphics has finally launched a sister Nashville office to better serve entertainment and music industry clients. Doak Tuner, well known in the Nashville music arena, will assume the role of Account Executive, reporting to company president Dave Otto. CD RELEASES: Multi-platinum country music artist Mark Wills released his seventh national recording, titled Looking For America on June 21, 2011. Co-produced with songwriter Chris Lindsey, the nine-song project features both the title cut and the USA Cares Warrior Treatment Today campaign song, “Crazy Being Home” (www.crazybeinghome.com). With a tenure that spans over 15 years in country music, Mark Wills is known in the industry for his philanthropy and honest “good-ol’-boy” attitude. During his career, Wills has had two Number Ones, “Wish You Were Here” and “19 Somethin’,” and graced the charts with nearly ten Top 10 singles. The celebration on release day included an Opry in-store appearance where he visited with fans to personally sign the new album. The CD flew off the shelves, selling out. LABEL NEWS: Tenacity Records—Promotion vet David Haley has been named SVP/Promotion of Tenacity Records, sister company to President Mike Kraski’s Tenacity Management. Concurrently, Gary Greenberg joins the label as Director of Promotion. Two additional promotion directors are being sought, as well. Tenacity’s debut artist is Bill Gentry, whose single, “This Letter,” will arrive at radio soon, in advance of his Chad Carlson-produced album Baptized In Temptation. The new team is a reunion of sorts for Kraski, Haley and Greenberg, who worked together at Equity Records. All three have extensive major and independent label experience.

LEGEND NEWS: Celebrating the release of I Love: Tom T. Hall’s Songs of Fox Hollow at the Country Music Hall of Fame Ford Theater, Eric Brace & Peter Cooper, producers of the newly released Tom T. Hall tribute album, will play a FREE afternoon show at the Ford Theater on Saturday, July 9th as part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Fun For Families series. Eric, Peter and the band will perform selections from the album beginning at 2:00 p.m., with a CD signing to follow in the Museum store.
