Award-winning country artist Matt Boone has dropped his most personal single yet. “Goodbye Hometown,” released April 27, 2026, on all major platforms, is a love letter and a reckoning rolled into one — a song born from decades of giving back to a small town in West Tennessee and the complicated feelings that come with outgrowing it.
Recorded at the legendary East Iris Studios in Nashville, the track is a testament to Boone’s journey from those West Tennessee roots to the biggest stages in country music — including, most recently, a performance at the Grand Ole Opry House alongside Lorrie Morgan during the Josie Music Awards.

The single is both a tribute and a reckoning. Boone has spent years pouring himself into his community through benefit shows and fundraisers, and “Goodbye Hometown” honors those who stood by him every step of the way — while speaking plainly to those who didn’t. His career has taken him into the Grammy world and onto national TV and radio , but the song strips all of that back to something raw: the cost of chasing a dream when not everyone at home is cheering you on.
The track arrives with an extraordinary lineup of Nashville heavyweights behind it. Brent Mason handles lead guitar, with Danny Parks on acoustic, Joe Spivey on fiddle, Steve Hinson on pedal steel, and background vocals from Michael Lusk and Kinsey Rose. The production, mixed and mastered at East Iris Studio A through Universal Music Group Audio, is as polished as Boone’s career moment demands.
“Goodbye Hometown” is out now everywhere music is streamed and sold. Fans are encouraged to call their local radio stations and request the single.
