This young man has to be one of my all time favorites. Lately I’ve found a few. But Matt has something that I think everyone’s been looking for. Truth, beauty, peace, and enlightenment in his songs. They are mesmerizing. This is one album I can’t stop listening to.
Inspired by his strange and unusual dreams, visions, and the uncertain grace of humanity coupled with the arcanum of the vast unknown, Matt Townsend truly presents you with the wonder of the world.
“Desire Like a Lion” is one of my favorites on this album. I love the whimsical cords of the guitar and the easy flow of the lyrics. It’s smooth like a Bob Dylan ballad and has the feel of Neil Young from his song “Harvest Moon”, that soothing, loving feel.
Matt has toured through out various location of the United States and over seas in Ireland. Currently located in Asheville N.C. Matt and The Wonder of the World have been compared to Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and in his own unique way he even makes you think of Pete Townsend. Could they be related? Hmmmm.
With his record release date set for June 23rd, of this year on Eternal Minds Records, Matt is well on his way to a magical career. In 2008 Matt began to pen some incredible songs that he pulled from the depths of rock and roll, folk, and the inner recesses of his intuitive thoughts. In 2010 he began playing for tips and gracing local coffee houses and then moved on to clubs and other venues. In 2012 his first EP “What Light Shall Be” was released. The rest is history.
Matt’s influences on his music are legendary. Neil Young, William Blake, and Bob Dylan to name a few. His songs have an intrinsic connection to the world yet remain somehow intimately exposed.
