John Maines, Jr. is an International Country Music Singer-Songwriter and Recording Artist, Traditional Country with Todays Sound. He is generally associated with artists such as Waylon Jennings, Mark Chestnut, and David Allen Coe. He started playing the guitar and writing songs at the age of fourteen.
By the age of fifteen, he was performing shows with Ernest Tubb and Freddie Hart. Over the years, John has recorded six albums (five on CD format, the earliest being available only on record and cassette). He has also released a variety of 45’s early on in his career.
He is no stranger to airplay: John has had twenty-two songs in the Top 10, twenty-three songs in the Top 20, and thirty-one songs in the Top 40 on the Country Music Charts in the United States and Europe. Notably, seven of his songs also reached the number 1 position on the charts.
John continues to be noticed and gain acclaim. For six consecutive years, he has been nominated for a Grammy award (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012; nine nominations in all). The nominations were for the categories Male Vocalist of the Year, Best Country Album (Long Hard Road), Best New Country Male Artist, and Best Country Song (You Used to Be The One). There were also nominations for best country solo (WHEN IT COMES TO LOVING YOU) and Country album of the year (OUTLAW RUNNIN WILD). His 2010 nomination was for Country Male Artist. 2011 saw John up for and winning awards for Best male Vocalist of the year for “BAD SIDE OF ME” and Best Country and Western Song with “THERES NO GETTING OVER YOU”. He was also nominated for 3 Awards in Europe for 2008 by the European Country Music Association. Those nominations were for Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of The Year, and Song of The Year (Outlaw Runnin’ Wild). John was nominated for Breakthrough Artist by New Music Weekly in 2009. He was nominated Male Artist Of The Year (2010) on the Independent Music Network.
Most recently, John has been working on his upcoming release. The album, WHISKEY AND WOMEN, is slated for worldwide release in 2013.
John has no intentions of slowing down. A truly gifted Country Music Singer-Songwriter, guitar player, and International Country Music Recording Artist, it just goes to show that John Maines, Jr. has a passion for Country Music and what Country Music is all about.
