Striking Likenesses: A Tennessee Portrait Symposium at Historic Travellers Rest

Come and learn more about historic Tennessee portraiture, historic
clothing and the appraisal and care of portrait art at the historic home of
Travellers Rest. There will be several presentations throughout this weekend event.On Friday, January 25, Rachel Stephens, author of 
Selling Andrew Jackson: Ralph E. W. Earl and the Politics of Portraiture,
will be speaking on “The Power of Portraiture: Ralph E. W. Earl’s
Tennessee Sitters” and will be available for book signings that evening
5:30 – 8:00pm.On Saturday, January 26, listen and engage with Marsha
Mullin from Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage, Jim Hoobler from 
TN State Museum, and Tonya Staggs from Historic Travellers Rest, as they discuss the historic significance and care of portraits. 
The event will run from 9:00am-2:00pm and light food will be provided.
