The Band Perry’s “You Lie” Goes Gold

“Only in Country music could a song about feeling fed-up be so much fun to sing,” says The Band Perry of their latest single, “You Lie.” Apparently country music fans love to hear it as much as The Band Perry loves to sing it, as the song recently earned Gold certification from RIAA for selling more than 500,000 copies. The song, penned by Aaron, Brian and Clara Henningsen, recently rose to No. 2 on both the Billboard Country Albums chart and the USA Today/Country Aircheck powered by Mediabase Chart.

This Gold record will nicely accompany the band’s other accolades. In addition to earning ACM’s New Artist of the Year award, their debut album, “The Band Perry” went Gold just four months after it’s release—it’s on course to go Platinum by the end of the year—and their mega-hit, “If I Die Young,” has been certified Double Platinum.

Currently on tour with Tim McGraw, and soon joining Keith Urban on tour in September, the band has been chosen to headline one of the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush 2011 concerts, and they also have been nominated for two Teen Choice Awards.

Be sure to check out The Band Perry’s live performance Wednesday, August 17 on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
