Going into Wednesday’s (Nov. 20) ceremony at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Morgan Wallen stands out as the leading nominee with an impressive total of seven nominations, including the coveted title of entertainer of the year. Close behind are Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton, each boasting five nominations. Post Malone and Lainey Wilson have each secured four nods, while industry talents Louis Bell, Luke Combs, Charlie Handsome, Hoskins, Jelly Roll, Megan Moroney, and Kacey Musgraves each hold three nominations.

Post Malone and Chris Stapleton kicked off the 58th Annual CMA awards performing “California Sober.” Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning were joined this year by Lainey Wilson to host the show. This year there are 31 first-time nominees.
Billy Bob Thornton and Mark Collie presented the award for Single of the Year to Chris Stapleton for “White Horse.” This was his third win for Single of the Year. Megan Moroney then performed “Am I Okay.” She looked like Country Barbie on stage.
The hosts then pulled out their “red solo cups” to toast the late great Toby Keith. Speaking of great bar songs, Shaboozey then performed “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” Even Keith Urban was singing along.
Carly Pearce, Jordan Davis, and Daniel Sunjata presented the award for Song of the Year to Chris Stapleton for “White Horse.” Ella Langley and Riley Green then performed “You Looked LIke You Loved Me.” Followed by a performance by Thomas Rhett and Teddy Swims performing “Somethin’ About a Woman” and “Lose Control.”
Luke Combs then performed “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma.” It was featured in the recently released movie Twisters.
Clint Black and Caleb Pressley presented the award for Best New Artist to Megan Moroney. Kelsea Ballerini then took the stage to execute “Cowboys Cry Too.” She was joined by Noah Kahan to duet the song.
Dustin Lynch then did a Chevrolet shout-out as one of the biggest supporters of songwriting and Country music. Chevrolet donated to the Nashville Songwriters Foundation.
Lainey, Luke and Peyton nodded the award for Musician of the Year to Charlie Worsham.
Cody Johnson was joined by Carrie Underwood to carry out “I’m Gonna Love You.” Chris Stapleton then came out with his wife, Morgane to duet “What Am I Gonna Do.” Kacey Musgraves did an acoustic rendition of her song “The Architect.”
The Oak Ridge Boys then presented the award for Vocal Group of the Year to Old Dominion. They also took a moment to remember their Oakie member that passed this year, Joe Bonsall.
Brooks and Dunn performed “Believe” with Jelly Roll. It was an emotional performance and warranted a standing ovation. Post Malone performed his Country song “Yours.” Another raw and real performance dedicated to his daughter.
Don Johnson and Katharine McPhee presented the award for Album of the Year to Cody Johnson’s Leather. This was his first win in this category.
Lainey Wilson then took the stage to sing “4x4xU.” Bailey Zimmerman performed his song “New to Country.”
Taylor Frankie Paul and Mitchell Tenpenny presented the award for Vocal Duo of the Year to Brooks and Dunn. This was their 15th win in this category.
The George Strait Tribute started with “Amarillo by Morning” performed by Lainey Wilson; Jamie Johnson then performed “Give It Away;” Jamie was then joined on stage by Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum to sing “Troubadour”; Chris Stapleton and George Strait – the King himself – came out to do “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.” A very fitting song for the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. He received his award with a standing ovation.
Ashley McBryde performed “Help Me Make It Through the Night” in memory of Kris Kristofferson.
Little Big Town and Freddie Freeman presented the award for Male Vocalist of the Year to Chris Stapleton. This his 8th win in this category.
Nate Smith then came out to give a shout-out to Crown Royal for their work with CreatiVets. They highlighted artist Scotty Hastings during the show. Crown Royal announced they were donating $50,000 to the organization.
Luke Bryan took the stage to perform his 31st No.1 hit, “Love You, Miss You, Mean It.” Luke Combs introduced Eric Church to the stage and spoke about the flooding devastation in North Carolina and Tennessee and how together they raised money for the victims of the disaster – the song Church performed was “Darkest Hour.”
Simone Biles presented the award for Female Vocalist of the Year to Lainey Wilson.
Jelly Roll then performed “Liar” featuring Keith Urban. Dierks Bentley was joined by Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull and Bronwyn Keith-Hynes for a performance of Tom Petty’s classic, “American Girl.”
Jeff Bridges presented the award for Entertainer of the Year to Morgan Wallen.
