CMA Awards 2024 LIVE on ABC

The 58th Annual CMA Awards, Country Music’s Biggest Night™ is hosted by Luke Bryan, Peyton Manning and Lainey Wilson. It airs live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Wednesday Nov. 20 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on ABC and is available next day on Hulu.

Returning as CMA Awards host for a fourth straight year, two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan takes the stage to perform his 31st No. 1 hit “Love You, Miss You, Mean It.” First-time CMA Awards host, reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year and four-time nominee this year, Lainey Wilson performs her current single “4x4xU.” CMA Female Vocalist nominee this year, Ashley McBryde delivers a very special, showstopping performance on the CMA Awards stage. First-time nominee this year with four nods, Post Malone is set to perform “Yours,” his song inspired by his daughter. Shaboozey, a first-time nominee this year with two nods, performs a medley of his multi-Platinum breakthrough, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and new single “Highway.” Reigning CMA Male Vocalist and five-time nominee this year, Chris Stapleton takes the stage to perform his song “What Am I Gonna Do.”

Additional collaborations include three-time CMA Award winner Dierks Bentley joined by Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull and Bronwyn Keith-Hynes for a performance of Tom Petty’s classic, “American Girl.” In addition to their solo performances, Post Malone and Chris Stapleton come together for a not-to-be-missed performance of “California Sober.” Performing together for the first time, two-time CMA Award winner Thomas Rhett welcomes Teddy Swims to the CMA Awards stage for a mash-up of both of their hits, “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman” and “Lose Control.”

Country Music icon George Strait will be honored as the 2024 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. 

“There have been few other artists as authentically Texas and authentically Country as George Strait, and Country Music fans all over the world have been better for it,” says Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “As a three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year and the most nominated artist of all time, he serves as an inspiration and icon to many of the great, new artists we know today. I am thrilled we are awarding him with this deserving honor next month.”

The Texas Country star is praised for his innate ability to collide comfortable and worn with fresh and exciting every time he steps on stage or into the studio.

Strait is the only act in history to have a Top 10 hit every year for over three decades, has sold more than 70 million albums and earned more than 60 major entertainment industry awards. His 31 studio albums, three live albums, and 11 compilation albums have led to one of Country Music’s most decorated careers with three CMA Entertainer of the Year Awards (1989, 1990, 2013); 17 CMA Award wins, the most-nominated artist with 83 total CMA Award nominations and membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.

The CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded to an iconic artist who has attained the highest degree of recognition in Country Music. The award recognizes those who have achieved both national and international prominence and stature through concert performances, humanitarian efforts, philanthropy, streaming numbers, record sales and public representation at the highest level. The artist receiving this award has positively impacted and contributed to the growth of the genre over the course of many years and has proven to have an unprecedented historical impact on fans and industry alike.

Previous recipients of the CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award include, Willie Nelson (2012), Kenny Rogers (2013), Johnny Cash (2015), Dolly Parton (2016), Kris Kristofferson (2019), Charley Pride (2020), Loretta Lynn (2021) and Alan Jackson (2022).

Morgan Wallen leads the pack this year with seven nominations. He earns his third consecutive nomination in both the Entertainer and Male Vocalist categories this year. His hit collaboration “I Had Some Help” with Post Malone, produced by Louis Bell, Charlie Handsome and Hoskins, and mixed by Ryan Gore, lands him nominations in the Single, Song, Musical Event and Music Video categories. Wallen’s fellow songwriters on “I Had Some Help” include Louis Bell, Ashley Gorley, Charlie Handsome, Hoskins, Austin Post, Ernest Keith Smith and Chandler Paul Walters. The music video was directed by Chris Villa. His song “Man Made A Bar” featuring Eric Church was produced by Joey Moi and secures him a second Musical Event of the Year nomination. CODY JOHNSON – FIVE NOMINATIONS

Single of the Year (“Dirt Cheap”), Album of the Year (Leather), Male Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year (“Dirt Cheap”), Music Video of the Year (“The Painter”)

Cody Johnson lands five nominations this year including his third consecutive Male Vocalist of the Year nomination. Dustin Haney directed both Music Video nominations for Johnson’s hits “Dirt Cheap” and “The Painter.” Johnson also receives a Single of the Year nod for “Dirt Cheap,” in addition to his album Leather securing a spot in Album of the Year. Both were produced by Trent Willmon and mixed by Jack Clarke. Johnson now has a career total of 11 nominations.

CHRIS STAPLETON – FIVE NOMINATIONS

Entertainer of the Year, Single of the Year (“White Horse”), Album of the Year (Higher), Song of the Year (“White Horse”), Male Vocalist of the Year

Seven-time Male Vocalist of the Year Chris Stapleton returns to the Entertainer and Male Vocalist categories this year, marking his eighth Entertainer nomination and tenth Male Vocalist nomination. He adds nominations for Single and Song for his hit “White Horse,” which was produced by Dave Cobb, Chris Stapleton and Morgane Stapleton, mixed by Vance Powell, and written by Chris Stapleton and Dan Wilson. His album Higher is also nominated and was produced by Dave Cobb, Chris Stapleton and Morgane Stapleton, and mixed by Vance Powell. With this year’s nods, Stapleton has received 39 total nominations since 2015.

POST MALONE – FOUR NOMINATIONS

First-time nominee Post Malone receives four nominations for his chart-topping collaboration “I Had Some Help” featuring Morgan Wallen. New to Country Music, Post Malone collects nominations in the Single, Song, Musical Event and Music Video categories. The hit song was produced by Louis Bell, Charlie Handsome and Hoskins, mixed by Ryan Gore, and written by Louis Bell, Ashley Gorley, Charlie Handsome, Hoskins, Austin Post (Post Malone), Ernest Keith Smith, Morgan Wallen and Chandler Paul Walters. LAINEY WILSON – FOUR NOMINATIONS

Reigning Entertainer of the Year and two-time Female Vocalist Lainey Wilson lands four nominations, including her second nomination for the night’s highest honor and third nomination for Female Vocalist. Her hit song “Watermelon Moonshine,” produced by Jay Joyce and mixed by Joyce and Jason Hall, earns a Single of the Year nomination. In addition, she receives a Music Video of the Year nod for “Wildflowers and Wild Horses,” which was directed by Patrick Tracy. With Wilson’s nominations this year, her career total is now 19.

LOUIS BELL – THREE NOMINATIONS

The reigning Single of the Year winner Luke Combs earns three nominations including his fifth consecutive nomination for the night’s highest honor and seventh consecutive Male Vocalist nomination. Combs also earns an Album of the Year nod for Fathers & Sons, produced by Combs, Chip Matthews and Jonathan Singleton, and mixed by Matthews. Combs now has 25 career nominations.

CHARLIE HANDSOME – THREE NOMINATIONS

Megan Moroney lands three nominations this year, including her second consecutive New Artist of the Year nomination and her first Female Vocalist of the Year nod. Moroney also receives her first Music Video of the Year nomination for “I’m Not Pretty,” which she co-directed with Jeff Johnson. Moroney’s nominations this year bring her career total to five.

KACEY MUSGRAVES – THREE NOMINATIONS

Album of the Year (Deeper Well), Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year (“I Remember Everything”)

Kacey Musgraves holds three nominations this year including Female Vocalist of the Year, a category she has received seven prior nominations in. Musgraves also receives a nod for her album Deeper Well, which she produced alongside Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian. The album was mixed by Shawn Everett and Konrad Snyder. She also lands a Musical Event nomination for her feature on Zach Bryan’s chart-topping hit “I Remember Everything,” produced by Bryan. Musgraves now has 22 career nominations.
