Singer, Actress, and Television Host Explores the Influence of Growing Up in America’s Modern Architecture Capital
Award-winning vocalist, actress, producer, and television host Quinn Lemley is featured as a special guest on the nationally acclaimed USModernist Radio, premiering Monday, July 13, at 3:00 AM ETon Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora, and all major podcast platforms.

Hosted by George Smart, FAIA, Executive Director of USModernist, USModernist Radio is one of America’s leading architecture and design podcasts, celebrating the people, places, and ideas shaping modern architecture and culture. The program has featured renowned architects, preservationists, designers, and distinguished musical guests including Pink Martini, Ari Shapiro, Madeleine Peyroux, Jane Monheit, Stacey Kent, Linda Eder, Ann Hampton Callaway, China Forbes, Nnenna Freelon, Diane Schuur, Jennifer Warnes, and Toni Tennille. During its decade-long run, the show has become an influential voice in design and cultural conversation.
For Lemley, the appearance is especially meaningful. She grew up in Columbus, Indiana, internationally recognized as one of the world’s great centers of modern architecture. Often called “The Athens of the Prairie,” Columbus became a global destination for architecture through the visionary leadership of industrialist J. Irwin Miller and the Miller family, who invited many of the twentieth century’s most celebrated architects to design civic buildings throughout the community.

Lemley’s parents, Max and Christine Lemley, were actively involved in welcoming and hosting many of these architectural visionaries, giving Quinn a unique upbringing surrounded by creativity, design, and artistic innovation.
Among the iconic landmarks discussed are:
• First Christian Church by Eliel Saarinen, widely regarded as America’s first contemporary church.
• North Christian Church by Eero Saarinen, featuring its soaring 192-foot spire.
• Cleo Rogers Memorial Library by I. M. Pei.
• Irwin Union Bank by Eero Saarinen, a landmark of modern transparency and civic design.
“Growing up in Columbus profoundly shaped my artistic sensibility,” says Lemley. “I was surrounded by extraordinary architecture from an early age. Living among buildings created by masters like Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei taught me that great art—whether architecture, music, or theater—has the power to elevate everyday life.”
Best known for her acclaimed stage productions Rita Hayworth: The Heat Is On! and Burlesque to Broadway, as well as hosting the television and podcast series Secrets of the Stage with Quinn Lemley, Lemley continues to captivate audiences with her signature blend of glamour, storytelling, jazz, pop, and theatrical artistry.
Listeners can hear Quinn Lemley’s episode beginning Monday, July 13.
