This rock debut is sure to set folks on a mission to find out everything they can about Kevin Thomas and the Kevin Thomas Band.
Reviews around the country are calling this latest release top notch, grade A, good old fashion rock and roll. It has a hip downbeat, exhilarating lyrics, and bewitching melodies. What more could you ask for?
How about supercharged talented musicians, whose lifelong devotion has described them as echoes of many of the greats, like Ben Harper, Jackson Browne, and Dave Matthews. I think that’s in good company.
The ebb and flow of the songs grab you
This 10 track album is filled with some of the best easy flowing, folk and funky rock music on the scene today.
“The Big Picture” has awesome guitar action with both lead and rhythm. “Comfort Zone” has super cool piano groove, and “Time” has a nice full bass with jumping unconstrained funkiness.
On vocals I love “Mirror Mirror” with a voice that you will immediately know is Kevin Thomas. His inflection and melodic flow is contagious. “On My Way Out” brought a different vibe but still expressed the nice easy groove, in that it features a nice fiddle part.
This album is hitting well with reviews around the country and whatever it is that Thomas and the band have going on right now, I hope they hold on to it and keep the tempo going. They are on my 2019 watch list for a best new album on the scene.
Thomas and his band perform regionally and are in constant demand. Kevin also teaches locally and online through Skype and has students who learn how to play bass, ukulele, piano, and guitar. They also take lessons in songwriting and vocal lessons for singing. Kevin Thomas is the bomb and presents a full package of talent.
Described as a grooving mix of rock, funk rock, jazz rock, and folk rock, and a hint of Folds Five, Phish, and Michael Franti, this group has it all. Talent, looks, artistic creativity and outstanding vocals and instrumental talent.
Accolades and accomplishments for Kevin include that he has produced and written 5 music albums, and more than a dozen singles. He has toured and performed in Europe and throughout the U.S., has garnered exceptional radio airplay across the U.S. and Canada with his previous band Stratosphere, in which all Stratosphere songs were written by Kevin. He is the founder of Songwriting Planet which is a music education organization. Kevin is the author of the highly acclaimed book: Melody Madness, he has been a composer for symphony orchestras. He was the Adjunct Professor of Music with the Maharishi University of Management (MUM), Kevin is an Honors Graduate of Berklee College of Music, and Graduate of Musicians Institute (MI) and holds a Masters Degree in Music Composition.
Music
is and most likely always will be his life. You can tell he loves
what he does by the expression in his music and his songs.
“A New Heart” has been a concerted effort to take my music in a more positive direction. The album is not only the culmination of my own dramatic personal transformation, but also a response to the discordant echoes from our society. The angst driven rebellious music that was needed so much in decades past has served it’s noble purpose, a purpose I fully rejoiced in; but now what is needed is positivity, healing, joy, and love. This is what the world is calling for now, and this is what “A New Heart” is all about.”~Kevin Thomas~
