Hangout Music Festival is an annual music festival that takes place on the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. From hammocks and shade lounge areas to rave stages and dance parties at Monster beach Club, a skating rink, ferris wheel, and a plethora of food options; Hangout has something for everyone.
It is know on the East Coast as the festival to kick-off the summer festival season and usually gives a taste of new artists that we an expect to see on the festival circuit throughout the season and some of which will return next year with even bigger set and stage slots.
While the headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers and Skrillex are definitely ticket sellers, there are true gems throughout the billed lineup. Some notable acts that we suggest that you catch are Flume, flipturn, Big Wild, Priscilla Block, Mariah the Scientist, Thundercat, Moore Kismet, Reza, Tove Lo, Gloria, Sabrina Carpenter, and The Vegabonds. The beauty of this lineup is how eclectic it is and the genres range from mainstream pop, hip hop, EDM and house to folk, country, rock and rap. Literally something for everyone.
Aside from the notoriety of having stellar music lineups, Hangout is also known as the biggest beach party in the country. And who could argue with this, it’s a festival on the beach! There are two beach clubs within the festival grounds, Monster Beach Club and Malibu Beach Club. Monster is going to have more rave vibes while Malibu is a much chiller vibe. These are on the beach and while heading from one to the other you can even catch some fun playing volleyball. And if you want to cool down, the festival even has ocean access. This was something that was not originally allowed but is now an amenity for festival goers.
When you want to rest there is an entire area with hammocks and art installations to take a break and listen to some tunes and relax or check your messages with their free public wifi.
If you don’t feel like putting your toes in the sand, why not put them in a pair of roller skates and take a lap or two around the Roller Disco. When you’re done be sure to check out the Psychedlic Party Bus for a trippy time – it’s colorful and shine on the inside and out. Also, be sure to take a ride on the ferris wheel, or two – one during the day (I would recommend sunset) and one at night (the lights are awesome). Both are equally notable rides.
If you feel like pampering yourself, check out the the Tropical Spa where you can get everything from massages and hydration IV treatments to glitter, hair braiding and color sprays.
Hangout vendors are also awesome due to all the swag and sweet treats. Check out the SHEIN Surf Club for limited edition merchandise. M&M Sweet Tours will be giving out samples of new M&M flavors. Jim Beam’s backyard for games as well as samples and swag all weekend long but you must be 21 or older to enter. Try a little taste of Italy on the beach with the Aperol Spritz experience. This year there will also be bubble tea from ShareTea.
The weekend is slated to be another huge hit with festival goers. And to those in attendance be sure to remember to recycle and clean up after yourselves as to keep the beach safe and clean. Be sure to check back for our wrap up review of this year’s Hangout!
