Rising Country Star Debuts with “Kick Back (with a bottle of Jack)” July 1
Nashville, TN — Georgia native, Kurt Thomas, purchased his first guitar for $80 from his friend, musician Zac Brown. The two used to play local gigs together in their home state, before Brown went on to form his multi-award winning band. Recently, Kurt Thomas opened for his old pal at Atlanta’s Aaron’s Amphitheater at Lakewood.
“I’ve had the honor of opening for Zac’s band before, but it’s always a thrill,” Thomas says. “I just admire that guy so much. His band is amazing and they’ve earned every accolade that’s come their way.”
Kurt has been garnering accolades of his own. His 2008 win of Kenny Chesney’s Next Big Star contest gave him the opportunity for many of those opening appearances. Kurt later won CMT’s Music City Madness, a nationwide contest that lead to Kurt’s performance on CMT’s Unplugged Studio 330 as well as a mentorship with Grammy-award winner, Randy Travis.
Now, the small town troubadour, signed to Radar Live, is set to release his debut national single, the rockin’ Country tune, “Kick Back (with a bottle of Jack)” on July 1st through Syntax Creative.
The small town life that Kurt enjoyed growing up in Dahlonega weaves its way into his music with themes of hard work, faith, love and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. After buying that first guitar, Kurt went on to record four CD’s and has opened for some of the biggest names in country music including Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Gary Alan and Darius Rucker, as well as the Zac Brown Band. He’s also appeared on the nationally syndicated Music City Roots Show.
Whether performing old favorites or his own original tunes, (many of which have been co-written with Nashville’s elite songwriters), Kurt has the unique ability to captivate an audience with his rich and resonant voice. It is a voice that Country fans are bound to hear – and love – more and more.
